47th ASEAN Summit happens from October 26 to 28, where leaders from Southeast Asian nations and key dialogue partners from around the world including leaders such as US President Donald Trump and China Premier Li Qiang will convene to discuss regional collaboration, economic development, and pressing security issues.
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has announced a series of measures to facilitate smooth public travel and delegate movement during the 47th ASEAN Summit. These measures include longer peak hours, higher train frequencies, and additional services across the Klang Valley’s rail, bus, and on-demand transport networks.
Rapid KL will extend its peak-hour operations throughout the summit period to cater to increased passenger demand. Morning peak hours will run from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., while evening peaks will extend from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Train frequencies will be boosted on certain routes — the LRT Kelana Jaya Line will operate every five minutes instead of seven, and the KL Monorail every eight minutes instead of ten. The LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line and both MRT lines will retain their existing schedules, though MOT has indicated that service levels will be closely monitored for possible adjustments.
These changes are intended to support efficient movement for summit delegates, daily commuters, and visitors throughout the event. The updated timetable will apply to all Rapid KL rail services, including the Kelana Jaya, Ampang/Sri Petaling, KL Monorail, Kajang, and Putrajaya lines.

For airport rail services, KLIA Ekspres will reduce its train intervals from 20 minutes to 15 minutes between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., while KLIA Transit will add a special 1:00 a.m. service from KLIA Terminal 2 to KL Sentral. KTM Komuter operations will proceed as usual during the summit, with tickets available via the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) website and mobile app.

Several Rapid KL bus routes will experience changes due to road closures and traffic diversions in central Kuala Lumpur during the ASEAN Summit. Affected routes include 402 (LRT Titiwangsa–LRT Maluri), 302 (LRT Titiwangsa–KLCC), 300 (Pandan Indah Hub–Lebuh Ampang), and 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya–Lebuh Ampang), along with the Rapid On-Demand service connecting the Titiwangsa and Chow Kit CBD zones. Commuters are encouraged to opt for rail services to minimise travel disruptions.
Hundreds of additional personnel across major stations will be deployed to strengthen operational monitoring throughout the summit period. The public is advised to plan their travel in advance and prioritise using train services such as MRT and LRT, particularly when heading to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) area.
