Area Profile
Description of the areas served by the Station
Batu 11 Cheras is a new village located at 11th mile of Jalan Cheras, hence the name. New Villages were formerly created as a means to stem Communist influence during the Malayan Emergency. Its original purpose was to stop contact with the Malayan Communist Party by isolating villagers from them with physical barriers. After the end of the Emergency, the area has grown into ordiniary residential town.
The area neighbours Balakong, a township in Selangor, offering a unique blend of a village-like atmosphere with a rapidly growing retail and commercial landscape. Originally a predominantly Chinese neighborhood, it has experienced accelerated development in recent years, transforming into a dynamic area.
Once surrounded by rubber plantations and agricultural land, Balakong has seen significant urban growth. The traditional buildings in Kampung Baru Balakong now coexist with the expanding urban environment. As the state continues to focus on industrial and commercial growth, the development in towns like Balakong has surged, driving a demand for new properties to cater to the area's evolving needs.
