Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is adding 228 extra train services between 17 and 29 March to meet the surge of travellers heading home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Of these, 196 will operate on the Electric Train Service (ETS) and 32 on EMU Plus, bringing the total ETS seat capacity to 251752 - an 113 % rise over the 118440 seats offered last year. The uptick is enabled by the full delivery of ten new ETS3 train sets, which, together with the existing fleet, allow KTMB to maximise capacity and ease the return journey for the public.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the expanded schedule will run 64 trips daily, with services operating almost 24 hours during peak periods. He added that, where demand allows, ETS services could be increased to a maximum of 70 trips per day, marking the largest expansion of KTMB’s services ever.

The Minister also noted that, as of 9 a.m. 17 March, ETS tickets were 99 % sold (177796), with 34964 additional ETS tickets and 5912 EMU Plus tickets still available. For the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) on the JB Sentral‑Tumpat route, KTMB has added four extra coaches, boosting capacity to 13910 seats and achieving 95 % sales. An additional Ekspres Lambaian Aidilfitri (ELA) service will run on both East Coast and Northern editions to further meet demand.
In preparation for the event, KTMB has deployed 310 auxiliary police personnel across all major stations to ensure safety and order during this peak period.
