Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has announced that the Bukit Jalil LRT station will have extended operating hours today, 28 May, remaining open until 12.30am on 29 May. The extension is to accommodate the crowd attending the Manchester United vs ASEAN All Stars Maybank Challenge Cup 2025 friendly match at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight. In its statement, Rapid Rail also mentioned that LRT interchange stations will follow the same extended hours. Other stations, however, will close at their usual times, although passengers will still be able to exit from them. Match attendees are encouraged to use Touch ’n Go cards and ensure they have sufficient credit for travel. Alternatively, they can purchase the MyCity Pass, available at all Rapid KL customer service counters.
Manchester United’s post-season tour will begin with a match against the ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As part of the Tour 2025 presented by Snapdragon, Ruben Amorim’s side will play at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on 28 May. The stadium, which has a capacity of 84,000, was originally built for the 1998 Commonwealth Games and now serves as the national stadium for Malaysian football. This will be United’s first appearance in the Malaysian capital since 2009.

The return of the Red Devils to Malaysia after more than a decade has generated significant excitement among local supporters. A packed stadium is expected, as fans across Southeast Asia seize the rare opportunity to watch United live. For some, the match will also be an emotional one, as it could mark a farewell to a club legend, making the occasion more meaningful than just a commercial event. Veteran centre-back Jonny Evans is part of the travelling party, and the Kuala Lumpur match will be one of his final appearances for United before officially leaving the club. His departure, along with Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, was confirmed.
The squad travelling for the tour includes goalkeepers Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton. The defensive lineup features a combination of experienced names and emerging talent, including Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, Jonny Evans, Tyler Fredricson, Ayden Heaven, Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Harry Maguire, Reece Munro and Luke Shaw.
The ASEAN All Stars will be strengthened by the inclusion of five players from the Malaysian national team: Muhammad Azam Azmi Murad from Terengganu FC, Muhammad Adib Abdul Ra’op of Penang FC, Muhammad Haziq Nadzli from Perak FC, Declan Lambert representing Kuala Lumpur City FC, and Sergio Aguero from Sri Pahang FC—not to be confused with the retired Argentine striker of the same name. Leading the ASEAN All Stars will be South Korean coach Kim Sang Sik, who recently guided Vietnam to victory in the 2024 ASEAN Championship.

Passengers are also urged to consider alternative transport modes, especially rail services, to minimize inconvenience. The public is encouraged to fully utilize public transportation for seamless travel to key areas and to contribute to smoother traffic flow. Due to the high traffic flow nature of the event, it will be a good idea to utilize public transportation such as the LRT.
